Do Not Say

                                                                 Do Not Say

=> The poem written by M.B. Haji Sallesh is an attack on snobbish so-called educated people or politicians who think they know better. The poet presents the comparison between the innocent, poor, humble people and the snobbish rich so called educated people or politician.

The speaker addresses the superior and so-called educated people, or politicians, and tells them the real condition of his countrymen. He has a deep respect to the innocent humble people. In fact, Malaysian people are not lazy as supposed by them. They sing a form of Malay verse, read rhythmic language, wear their own hand woven clothes and practise their own culture, in short, they develop everything they need. This proves their simplicity. Just by visiting the village by car and by studying the economic data, they cannot tell the reality and form an opinion about the Malay citizens. Malay citizens are gentle and hard working. They are not only music lovers, but also the lover of culture and work.

They have their own literature and culture. They have modern Malay verse and poetic form. They perform opera and dances. They read rhythmical verse of their epic. They argue about religion topic. Their social organizations are quite systematic and already developed before their political philosophy existed. They have made their history and ancestry by taking a great risk. They know how to make the cloth out of thread of gold and silver. It is very lovely to live in the village of Malay.

They may have very few banks. But they are not poor. They are very rich in their hearts. They never take anything from other unfairly and greedily. They despise (hate, dislike) going abroad for money and business. They collect humanity from the sun, the rain, and the man instead of money and property.

It is not necessary for the western people to teach Malaysians, how to live and how to run different organizations. Before political philosophy of the western people, the Malaysian society had been independent, separate or self-contained existence.

Since the western people do not know anything about Malaysians, they should not tell whatever they want.

Away from nature                                                         Closer to nature

3)The poem is a severe attack on the snobbish and so-called educated people; or politicians who think they know better. Does this apply to Nepali situation as well ? Justify.

Ans: The poem is a severe (o) attack on the snobbish and the so called educatedpeople or politicians who think highly superior to the poor people who are innocent, simple and honest. It is completely applicable to Nepali situation. The politicians in Nepal claim that they know the suffering of ordinary people and pretend that they are playing a vital role for the welfare of them. But actually they are struggling for money and post. They always pretend to be honest, learned and patriotic but they have been the least honest, most unlearned & mug.

They are exploiting  the poor people in many ways. In the context of Nepal, politicians speak and promise to do something but actually they do nothing. They say that they are not corrupted but it is mysterious that how they are living a sophisticated life in Kathmandu. They never work but always wear expensive clothes and live in luxurious houses.

On the other hand, the poor humble people work hard, wear simple clothes. They are rich in their hearts. They speak the truth, speak politely and enjoy life living close to the nature. They are the people to be respected.

4) 'Humble people are the pride of the nation; they know her truly'. Discuss and write an essay about the Nepali common folk.

Ans:

                                  The Common Nepali Folk

The Nepali common folk consists of simple and humble people who are the pride of the nation. They are honest, hard working and really patriotic . They are rich in many aspects .

Nepal is a multi-lingual , multi-racial  and multi-religious  country. If we follow their path, we will earn name and fame. Then we will feel the pride of being Nepali. On the other hand, if we follow the path of the politicians, we will lose our civilization and become hypocrite

The political changes in Nepal have been brought by the unity of common people. They are really true to their nation's future but the so called politicians, who think they are for the welfare of the nation, often behave contrary to the welfare of the people and the nation. They give more priority to their individual and parties' interest than to the interests of the people and the issues of nation's sovereignty, integrity  and independence.

Nepal's identity is ordinary people's culture, behaviour, feelings and ownness but not anything of politician's or the rich people's. The ordinary people are very helpful, honest and hard working. If the government runs at the will of the ordinary people the country will be developed soon.
