Punishment in Kindergarden

 Punishment in Kindergarden

                                                                                                                    -Kamala Das

Kamala das is a well known indian poet. 'punishment in kindergarden' is her autobiographical poem where she effectively vomits her bitter experiences of her past life when she was kept in kindergarden.

In the past, the poet was kept in kindergarden. Once the poet along with her friends and her teacher had gone to a picnic. Other children were making fun and entertainment but the poet hadn't engaged with them. she was living alone. At that time, one of the blue frocked female teacher came and started to insult and scold her blaming her for not being involved with ot her children. Her insult and scold was more than her (the poet) endurance capacity. At that time, the other children were sipping sugarcane with great fun. They also laughed at the poet. It became too much for the poet and the she coverd her face with the hedge.

That picnic day became a memorable black day in her life. Now, the poet has grown up. She is no more such innocent and shy child. She has her own life far from kindergarden .she shouldn't face and adopt such humiliating insult like that of the picnic day. she is living free and her own life.

In this way the poem expresses her experiences of her picnic day through this poem.

1)Write a memoir on your school-day experience.

Ans:-  It can be rather the pecuilar, when a from the bygons time can remain so clear in our minds even after a considerable period of time. To cite an example, I could offer an event of my day of high school. It was a day of mixed emotions which permanently remains fresh in my memory.

I woke up early on the first day of high school, feeling nervous and excited at the same time. I had spent my vacations preparing for this movement, buying college dresses, stationary, and backpack I wanted to make a good impression and commence high school on the right Post I saw other students from my neighbourhood who wore going to the same school. Sume of them I know from middle school. while others werd new faces. When the bus arrived, we all got on and found seats I sat next to girl who seemed nice bub didn't say much I introduced myself, and she replied with a shy smile with her introduction as well.

As we arrived at school, the school looked enormous and I felt like a small fish in a big pond. Then, the principal welcomed us to the school and gave a speech about the imperative of education. and making good choices After the assembly, we went to our first period classes .English, was our first class, and the teacher gave us a syllabus and introduced himself .I was very delighted that he seemed friendly and approachable. As the day went on,  I met new classmates and teachers. All are very kind, helpful and friendly. I had lunch with friends, and made plans to join a sports team, as I was keen in a playing games since from my childhood.

By the end of the day, I was exhausted, but very glad of my first experience of high school .I knew that there would be challenges. ahead, but I felt ready to face them with the support of my family, friends, and teachers.

Looking back, the first day of high school was a turning point in my life. It marked the beginning of a new chapter, full of opportonities and growth. I learned that it's okay to be nervous sometimes, the best way to dispel fear is to take a deep breath and dive in.
